Exhibition of Works – 30 Years of Art and Resistance Against Economic Conditions

My early experience of state violence, through corporal punishment in English schools, leads to the strong motive of wanting to work toward a just society. Yet in my experience this can only happen outside institutions and outside the opportunism toward the market, which I have perceived since early childhood, in its mechanisms between rewarding (wages) and punishing, as corrupt and brutal. Out of this conflict, in my inner resistance, I move through 30 years of searching for an attitude, for a way of living and working that enables a reintegration of the human being and of the entire experienced reality into society and the economy. In striving to survive as a whole human being and consequently to preserve the entire ecosystem as valuable, I resist toxic structures, withdraw from false economic logics and patterns, fail, attempt, describe, make publicly visible. I begin the “actual work” as the attempt of the human being to orient themself toward the truly immediate, the humane and the comprehensively relevant, in order to establish a new economy that understands value in a broader sense.

Many encounters and private moments shape the work. Therefore, this retrospective is more than just showing works, but illustrates a long path of three decades in the search for a humane answer to the economic and social questions of our time.

Touched upon are topics such as the future of work, New Work, Universal Basic Income, alternative economy, as well as the horrors of the state’s treatment of people in poverty. Throughout all the years the essential focus is to arrive, through the path of subjective intervention, through the free individual who preserves diversity, at insights and understandings that reveal chances for a development that goes beyond the brutal logic of a simplifying capitalism.
